Course Name: Emergency Medical Technician I
Course Number: VOC EMT 90
Course Objectives:
  • Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to perform a scene survey, perform a complete patient assessment of medical and trauma patients, integrate diagnostic signs and symptoms and formulate a working diagnosis.
  • Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to describe the signs and symptoms characteristic of each disease and traumatic injury in the EMT scope of practice as well as differentiate between pediatric and adult patients in terms of changes in signs/symptoms and treatment protocols
  • Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to implement an appropriate treatment protocol within the EMT scope of practice based on assessment findings and diagnosis
  • Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to Analyze and differentiate the roles and responsibilities of the Emergency Medical Technician in performing both emergency care and operations aspects of the job.
  • Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to perform each skill within the EMT scope of practice and assemble and apply or utilize each piece of equipment normally used by EMTs.
